After working in the Ventura & LA County since 2003, Chanda took a step back from the corporate world in search of doing something more meaningful for the community.
Chanda's father, Jeff Losey, had been fundraising for charities through his company, Old Boney Mountain Hot Sauce Corporation. He also started sending local, underprivileged youth to summer camp through the Old Boney Mountain Send a Kid to Summer Camp triathlon team, which competes in Catalina each November. When Jeff threw out the idea of sending kids to summer camp through a 501(c)(3), Chanda said...ok, let's do this!
After numerous, frustrating conversations with friends and neighbors about how kids don't learn "the important stuff" in school, Chanda really wanted to pull in the "life-skills" part of the foundation. She felt she was raised in a home with a solid foundation, and with two parents there offering up knowledge to live a successful life. She also knew from interactions growing up that not everyone is blessed with that type of home life.
Thus, Old Boney Mountain Foundation for Kids became her project. Offering up opportunity for underprivileged, local youth who are seeking a better future.
