Q   Why the name "Old Boney Mountain"?
A   Old Boney Mountain is a beautiful landmark in Newbury Park, CA that rests as a backdrop to our little town. It's a known mountain in the area for great hiking and culture. It's rocky peaks represent that we are building a "Foundation for Kids" that is solid.

Q   Who can apply for your programs?
A   Local, underprivileged youth - meaning any child in Ventura County under the age of 18 who has suffered from the loss of a parent or has financial hardship, or is in the foster system.  A parent or legal guardian must apply on behalf of the child.

Q   How much of my donation is actually going towards your programs?
A   Glad you asked! A "quality" non profit strives to keep their admin/overhead within 10% of their donations so that 90% can go towards the cause. Old Boney Mountain Foundation for Kids is determined to continue to give at least 90 cents of every dollar to the cause itself, which we have successfully achieved since day-one.

Q   Do kids need to apply/participate in all of your programs to receive funding?
A   No. We've incorporated all three programs because we feel they are all important parts of leading a well-rounded life in the "real world". Our applicants may apply to any or all programs.

Q   You send kids to a Christian summer camp. Are you a church-based group?
A   No. We are a small, family-run non profit who want to help kids that weren't "dealt the best cards in life" who are determined to create a better future for themselves. This includes opportunities to learn the life skills our parents taught us (personal finance, sewing, manners, etc.), scholarship opportunities to pursue a career and funding to attend an ethical, faith based camp, which offers community, hope, education and fun!
